Default Female with 2 toddlers moving to Indianapolis

Hello,
I will be moving to Indianapolis in September to work with IUPUI and will be living with my 2 toddlers there. I am looking for a safe area for myself and kids. I am not from that place so before renting apartments, I am looking to get some input. Any insight will be helpful. Also if anyone has recommendations for decent 2 bedroom apartment complexes or houses, I would appreciate that.
I am ready to drive for about 30 minutes for if required for my needs of nice and safe area to live.

Thanks

I guess the main and most important information is how much are you willing to spend on an apartment per month? Your options are vast; however you could pay $500-$1,200 depending on the location. Off the top of my head I would recommend Carmel, Fishers, Avon, Brownsburg, as they are all close to the interstate. You may want to consider renting a house instead, since the market is still soft there are some owners who need someone desperately to rent their home and will probably be very negotiable. Fishers (Hamilton County) has been named by Forbes and Money Magazine as the best place to relocate in Indiana, and the best place to raise a family in the country for its market size.

Default Thank you

Dear SUPERBROKER:

Thanks for your reply. I appreciate your time in this. My range is somewhere around $700-$900 per month. I have read in the forum about some places have had shootings and people get mugged on regular basis. I just have to avoid those.
Now I think I have a place to start, thanks to you.
Best
