The idea behind the original question is timeless.

Indianapolis is a great place to live with lots to do, if you just do it. Indy Parks Home. Indianapolis is car centric. It is more fun if you can drive. You can take the bus but you must plan where you live, and be near a bus route. There are universities here with activities open to the public. The library is great. Indy has a major medical school. Indy has many other schools to learn skills for a better job. The cost of living is much less than either coast. We have a full four seasons of the year. There are all kinds of groups to join such as theater, music, hiking, biking, boating, dance. Just Google it and you can do it in Indy.

Best hot dogs in Indianapolis are from Mr. Garcia's cart at 16th and Emerson. They are not Chicago dogs....but they're good nonetheless.

You can also get a serviceable Italian beef from South of Chicago on Virginia Ave. I say serviceable because I am not a big fan of the Italian beef, so I am probably not qualified to critique it. Its all the same to me.

Not sure why so many want Indy to offer copycats of Chicago foods.

You can get the Chicago Dog and Italian Beef at this little fast food joint on Michigan and 79th, well a couple of blocks northeast of 79th on Michigan right by a Discount Tire and Lumber Liquidators.

There are so many wonderful parks, museums, restaurants and shopping areas you could ask for. Your city is what YOU make it. I love it here.
Oh, man... This helps me greatly! My boyfriend and I are considering relocating to Indy from Memphis, too!

I don't think it's a bad place to live, just a bland and uninspring one. Really, they're more intresting places in the midwest to live such as Minneapolis, Chicago, Cincinnati, and even St. Louis.
