Default Lilly Imclone

A little shocked the rumored Lilly purchase of ImClone has not made its way on here.

Lilly is one of the largest companies in Indy with suspect future after 2011. (Which means they might fire a bunch of people then). Buying ImClone could really help.

Right now it's just a rumor, so I'll believe it when Lilly makes an official announcement. Is it your position that such an acquisition makes it more likely that Lilly survives as a separate entity based in Indy?

It is a bidding war right now which may turn an interesting maybe good thing into a very bad thing. The only ones who will do well are the Imclone owners.

There is a whole lot going on at Lilly that has nothing to do with this purchase. Outsourcing, "reallocations", reducing senior grades with demotions, etc. More even in the planning stages.

These are in addition to the changes to retirement and medical which are showing up to 1600 the door by the end of next year.

It is not your grandfather's or dad's Lilly anymore and it probably is not the company that first hired your husband or wife or child.

I do. I think they will get smaller (25k employees), but this probable increases their chances of remaining in Indy.

ALthough, they could be in Indy and become "Lilly-Amgen" or something.
