rentals near Butler University
Hi All,
I'm thinking of attending Butler and renting a studio apartment within 5 miles. Any suggestions? Good apartment complexes? Neighborhoods to avoid?
Thanks!

Broad Ripple Trails for Studio Apt & Student discount
For the Butler University student looking for a studio apartment near the university, check out Broad Ripple Trails apartment. They have newly renovated apartments of all sizes from studios to 3-bedroom townhomes.
The new owner is a former academic who gives discounts to students and faculty.

Broad Ripple Trails NOT SAFE
I am a current renter, but do not reside at the property anymore. It is not safe. I have had my vehicle broken into twice in the past month and the management and the police said there is nothing they can do. I was informed that I would need to pay 3.5 months rent to end my lease early even though I am not safe and my my lease is over half way through. So I just may the rent and store some things there.
There are kids that run around outside unsupervised, the windows and doors are old and do not seal very well. There is always trash out next to the dumpster. There is a definite odor of drug usage from several apartments. Two people were shot hear over the summer and the management sent out a letter acting as if since they were shot in the leg and hand, it was not a big deal. I guess someone must die before they take it serious. I am not safe and continue to pay 599 a month so they wont sue me for breaking a lease to someplace unsafe.
If you rent here, do as did and get a concealed weapon permit and a firearm. This area is not safe.

Butler has some fantastic newly renovated dorms. Check into those. Assuming you're an incoming undergraduate, it's likely that you should stay there. You'll immediately integrate into your community of students. Butler is a great place; I hope you have fun and learn a lot.
The Butler campus is integrated within a more urban community, but I think you'd find the campus area to be completely safe. Butler just hired a new chief of police, and I know they are extremely serious about the safety of the Butler community.

Marcy Village apts. Not bad, few police runs, gated, 5 minute drive across 46th to Butler.

You might check the school's policy first - I believe only seniors can live off-campus now, which has cut down the rental market around the school considerably.

I go to Butler and have lived at Marcy Village for the last few years. It's great for the money, but the area is not the greatest. Broad Ripple is more expensive, but it's a better place to live if you can afford it.
