Smile ZOO - Indy 'Burbs

Hi All,

Might be relocating to Indy. Need fairly easy 30min. or less commute to zoo.

Also need:

NOT in city proper.

Home $200,000 or less....hoping for some space / 1 acre +

Family friendly / good public schools.

Canine friendly...for our non-roaming / non-noisy dogs.

Low crime / clean / nice community / small-townish.

ANY insight on suburbian areas which might fit the bill.

THANKS!!!!!!

I would recommend Danville. I lived & worked there for several years and enjoyed every minute of it.

How many bedrooms do you need? A quick search of Realtor dot com turns up over 200 listings in the Danville area 14 under 200k with 1 acre, 11 of which are single-family dwellings/non-mobile or modular.
4392 Gibbs Road, Danville, IN, 46122 - Single Family Home Real Estate - REALTOR.com® is the one closest to Indy distance wise. It's almost in Plainfield and would probably be alot faster access to the zoo on US 40.

All of Hendricks County would be worth looking into. Danville, Plainfield, and Avon have great schools, family friendly communities, and low home prices. Rather than using realtor.com, I would use our local Indianapolis Metropolitan Board of Realtors site, MIBOR.com

Greenwood, IN is a great place to live. Greenwood is straight South of Indianapolis, they run together. Greenwood has fresh air, clean, safe streets, good schools and beautiful homes for under $200,000. Anything you could want can be found in Greenwood. It is a friendly community with easy access to Indy and the Zoo is only 20 minutes away up U.S. 31 or State Rd. 135. There are still a lot of open farm land and homes with acreage available. If you move to Greenwood, you will never want to leave.
