Actually, you will be better off in Hamilton County.
The Marion County (Indy) public schools pale in comparison. IPS is awful.

Lawrence Township has its own school district. Aside from that area near east 38th and Arlington HS; none of Lawrence is in IPS. By the way, Lawrence Townships has good schools; one does not HAVE to go to Hamilton County; though some do and that is fine too.

I would agree that LTS is better than Warren/Wayne/Pike/IPS, but LTS has a number of problems. The overall stats for the system are disappointing.

Stats can be very misleading. Stats and stats alone are a bad way to pick a school district IMO. Every school district has problems, even in Hamilton County. All one can do is gather info, talk to people, and use the stats as part of that decision process.

I raised 3 kids in Lawrence and lived about as far east in the township as you can get. I did not have as many issues with the schools as some as my wife is a teacher and we were heavily involved with the schools.
My home is still for sell there if you are interested!!!

My kids are at Amy Beverland pre school of the arts. There are 4 POAs on Elm school campuses in MSD Lawerence, Mary Castle and Brook park I think are two others. Its expensive ($150 a week full day 5 days, I got my youngest funded through title1) but it is an absolutely magnificent facility and enchanting learning environement. I know theres some major construction going on at the HS near the Fort and Forest Glen elm (i think) is a magnet school

Here is some history on us:
We are in our early 20s, married for a little over a year. We are looking for a town to put down roots. We would like to buy a house and start a family. We'd like an up and coming town with great schools, parks and is accessible to downtown Indy.
So what is your opinion on Lawrence, the real estate (hard to judge because of the economy as of late but think about what is has been previously), crime rate, schools, family friendly, neighborhoods, is it growing or are people leaving, etc.
Thanks in advance everyone!

Lawrence is a great community continues to grow great schools housing not as expensive as Fishers and Nobelsville. If you start looking around the old Ft Ben Harrison area you'll find a great park with trails, new schools and church's lots of shopping a great family, pet friendly area.
Homes seem to be resonable priced............SFCJPMAC2

I don't know if I would say that Lawrence is less expensive.
I moved from LT to Fishers.
I gave up a little bit of lot size (about 1/3 smaller), and got a 1000 sq ft bigger house, for the same house payment. I am paying $800 less in property taxes and $800 a year less in auto/homeowners insurance.
Not to mention better schools.
