Moving to Indy and want a home with some land
Hello. My family and I are moving up to Indianapolis for work from Atlanta and had a question. We would love to find a home that sits on some land, I am not planning to be a farmer, just want 2-3 acres. I'll be working on the east side and want a commute time 30-40 minutes. Any suggestions, oh yeah good schools are a must.

Well if your going to live on the east side Warren Central is a good school. I mean there is alot of crap about it on the news right now, but it is a really good school.

Here are a few to look at, they are all on the east side and within 20 minutes to Lawrence. It's a little difficult to find homes with that many acres in city limits or close to it but they are out there.

If you want land, work on the east side and want to avoid a long commute, look at land in Hancock County. I would avoid Warren Township schools like the plague. Hancock County has lots and lots of open acreage and homes on large lots. Acreage in Marion County (Indy) will cost you a pretty penny.
Here is the State Dept of Education School Ranking for every school in the state. Search by city and school system.

I agree with IndyGoat on this one. You also might look in Lawrence Township, just make sure you do research on which school you are going to. Also, check out New Palestine.
Another thing, in a Indy 30-40 minute will get you a LONG way on a normal day. You will probably laugh at our traffic coming from Atlanta. A 40 minute drive from the east side gives you tons of options.
