Cardboard?!?!
We had a cheese fondue appetizer, with a very crisp cracker-like bread to eat it with. It also came with pears and apples with honey. Amazing!
Then I had a prawn and scallop fettuccini alfredo--- I never knew shrimp (prawns) could possibly taste so great. They tasted like butter. Fabulous. The scallops were perfectly soft with a tiny bit of browning where they were pan seared, delish. The alfredo was creamy but not too heavy like most places.
Then they brought out my complimentary Chocolate Tiramisu. Wow.

Well, hopefully the food has gotten better because the two times I went there with guests from out of town .... we all thought the food was very blah.

I went there in early November and thought it was just OK. Not worth the cost, IMO.

Oh, you're just hatin' now. Palomino may be somewhat overrated and overpriced (and it's a chain, not a local restaurant), but "cardboard" doesn't begin to describe the food there.

I'm not hatin'! If I have to choose a great upper end meal in Indy, it would be at either Oceannaire or St. Elmo's. They are simply 2 of the finest restaurants in the state and in the case of St. Elmo's .. the entire country.

Here are my favorite eateries:
The Tamale Place (delicious tamales and hands-down the best salsa in town) Rockville & Lynhurst
Petite Chou (French cafe, great brunch/lunch spot) Broad Ripple
Brugges Brasserie (Belgian mussels & fries, with great dips, crepes) Broad Ripple
Sawasdee (Thai) 86th St
Cairo Cafe (delicious Egyptian restaurant/buffet and hookah bar) Lafayette & 30th
Yatz (Cajun/creole) Mass Ave & Broad Ripple
Bazbeaux (specialty pizza) Mass Ave
Mo's (steakhouse) Downtown
Palominos (The dungeness crab sandwich on their lunch menu is amazing!!) Downtown
Bucca de Bepo (family style Italian) Downtown
Shanghai Lil (Chinese -great dim sum!) Keystone
Favorite pubs:
Rathskeller (German biergarten, good food, great beer, fun outdoor music in summer) downtown
McNivens (Great beer selection, good food, I love their potato skins and scotch eggs, and they have the best vegetarian chili ever. I'm a carnivore and I prefer it to their meaty dishes.) Mass Ave

King Wok is my favorite Chinese place too! I tried other Chinese places around town, but I liked them the best!

Two places I would like to add:
Sam's Saloon located at Prospect and State in Fountain Square. It is a good time for the bar crowd.
Mama's House on Pendelton Pike. Korean Food; so good.

I haven't been for a few years, but used to love the Jazz Cooker in Broad Ripple - - if it was a nice evening to sit outside under the trees with mardi gras beads.
The melting pot in Castleton - fondue and martinis!!!!
Ditto St Elmos for steak. Creme Brulee' at Ruth's Chris.
Someone mentioned needing more Carmel suggestions... Mitchell's Fish Market & Kona Grill at Clay Terrace. I'm a huge fan of Charleston's at 31 & Greyhound Pass... never had a bad meal there, not overpriced.
