Plainfield aquatic center
Have recently found this wonderful place tucked away in Plainfield. It's a combination gym/swimming/basketball/recreation room and everything inbetween. Am looking to join with my family once our home is finished. This is where my question comes in...we will be moving to The Settlement which is a PLAINFIELD address, however, the schools are all AVON. We have been told that we would NOT be considered residents of Plainfield once we move into the home, therefore, will have to pay the higher membership fee. Anyone else have info on this? Seems a little unfair to me??!?!?!?!?

If you don't live in the city limits, you probably didn't pay the city taxes that built the building. That is also what happened with that little water park out there; I can't think of the name; Splash Island maybe. The water park is discounted to Plainfield residents because they paid the taxes that built it, if memory serves.
Fairness aside, it is logical to discount entry to the residents whose taxes paid for the facility; if that is in fact the reason behind it.

I hear it's a great Place! Once you have a permanent address there that says PLAINFIELD, that should be enough. They dont need to know what sub-D you live in. If you have kids~Make sure you get them ID's somehow...as their School ID's will say AVON. (could be a problem..so get them a Plainfield Library card or something.)

I live just around the corner from the Aquatic Center!! It is a really cool place. I think the permanent Plainfield address is good enough.
DC 38 I can tell you Plainfield Recreation and Aquatic Center is definetly not small!! in 2007 more than 120,000 passed through its doors. The Town of Plainfield is already looking into expanding Splash Island. Construction could start as soon as next summer

Unfortunately, they even have signs up at the Rec/Aquatic center that specifically say residents of The Settlement are not considered Plainfield residents and do not qualify for the discount. It is outside of town limits and the tax reason is why. If you go to Plainfield schools, you pay taxes to Plainfield, if you go to Avon schools, your taxes are probably going to Avon.
I live in Hendricks County, Avon schools and an Indianapolis address. I am outside of Avon limits, and outside Indianapolis limits.

BTW they are one in the same....the Aquatic Center/Basketball gyms/track/fitness center is the front of, and is connected to that not so little 'Splash Island' in the back.
It's one Hugh Place.!

SO....Where do you live? that's aweful confusing?
Are you sure about that Settlement sign.? Sounds drastic, as there are other Sub-D's that are in the same boat then!--> in that SR200-SR300 /
S Dan Jones Area...
As a realtor, you'd know that right ?
AND~ why do they bother calling it Plainfield ??
...........if it's NOT Plainfield???

Geez louise; Splash Island is smaller than Holiday World and Splashin' Safari; so it's little to me
I didn't know the aquatic center was right next to Splash Island, because, well, I have not been to Plainfield in over a year. I just remember the tax issue and tried to offer assistance to the OP. In two years when I next visit Plainfield, I will be sure to check out your island of joy!
Check that; I did stop for gas in Plainfield right off I-70 last October.

If you think that is confusing then try this My friend has a Plainfield Phone Number-Indianapolis Address-her kids go to Avon Schools-property taxes go to Washington Township-Plainfield Water. Now that can get confusing

Sounds familiar. I worked in Prestwick while I was in college, right as Avon 'took over' the area. The store had a Danville {745} phone number, Avon address, but had to rely on Hendricks County sheriff's department for police service because both Avon/Danville said we weren't in their service area. Due in no small part to the taxes and cost of living in the area, myself and many of my co-workers lived outside all of those, either in Marion or Putnam counties. I was rather fond of giving our accounting manager excederin migraine for every holiday.
