Is it just me or does EVERYBODY fly on 465? Its crazy, I drive 55, I'm not getting a damn ticket. Where is everybody going in such a hurry? I don't rush to get to work, does everybody like their job that much?

I do 60-65 when I drive on 465. People fly by me. As long as the slow speed limit drivers stay to the right and don't block traffic, it doesn't bother me. It also doesn't bother me if the 70+ crowd stays left and don't tailgate me. When I am tailgated, I slow down and hope for a middle finger.

what I find interesting the posted speed limit on I-465 is 90km/h or 55mph. However Every morning when the news check the traffic with those sensors and cameras they have they show the sensors sometimes giving numbers up to 35km/h or 15mph over 55mph

It's not just 465. I think I-70 is a racetrack too. There's a large stretch at 50 mph (not even 55) in town, and I'm the slowest person on the road by a longshot if I do 60-65. It mystifies me. I'm not an old fogey, but I do wonder why there isn't more traffic enforcement on the road (or raise the speed limit).

I currently live in the Chicago suburbs...born and raised in Indy so I try to contribute to the Indy board while taking something from the Chicago board....if you think 465 is a racetrack, come up to Chicago.

You won't get a ticket going 65 and probably won't get a ticket going 69. In fact driving 55 is more dangerous than going what everyone is going. So while you think you are being safe - obeying the speed limit you are making the highway more dangerous.

I got a $150.00 speeding ticket along the north part of 465 going 71

So I should risk a $150 ticket (and the higher insurance bill that will come with that) because everyone else is anxious to get somewhere in town 2 minutes early? Nah.

No, but it is safer for everyone to drive between 60-65 - than for some to drive 55 and others to drive 65 and others to drive 75. If everyone drives approx the same speed - that is the safest way to go

And, of course, it would be considerably safer for everyone to drive 55, rather than some doing 55 (the legal limit there, and the most fuel efficient speed), while others recklessly risk life and limb to shave a few minutes off their commutes.

Not interested in a flame war though. Just my 2 cents.

I averaged 70 on 465 going around the east side today ... people were passing me on both sides.
