Living in Hamilton County, I know nothing about the schools in Shelbyville. However, the state's Department of Education website has a wealth of information for every school in the state. See: IDOE: Indiana K-12 Education Data
Driving the Dan Ryan during the construction period had to be a real treat. Hopefully they'll get that Lowell extension of the SS done someday. I'd think that would help commuters from St. John into the Loop.

Well here is hoping for those who remain, but hopefully, we will be in our new home for this summer. I have just checked the doe website. The stats are good but there is nothing like first hand information. Our kids go to Hanover and it is still very small even with all the growth we have seen over the past few years. It does seem like we have taken a step backward in the tech dept., which is very sad seeing as that is def the way of the future. I like the idea the schools south seem to have esp those that work closely with the local colleges and univ.

How are the schools here? It seems Eastern Shelbyville has a higher test scores than Central. Is there a differance between them?
We liked the fact that downtown Franklin has an old time square and it seems they have a ton of town sponsered events.

Franklin is lovely and their schools may be a notch better than Shelbyville's, but don't quote me.

relocation process
I am relocating myself - I found a wonderful realtor there through this site - if you need a good contact there let me know and I will send you his email - there should not be a problem finding exactly that out there. I found some wonderful homes.

Try Greenwood.
I used to live in Greenwood and it is nice. I like the Old Greenwood section, the best. There are some nice places to shop and plenty of places to eat. The Walmart on Emerson is one of the best Walmarts in Johnson County. They have good schools in Greenwood.

Try Camby. It's on 1-67 exit off 465 just before the airport exit on the SW side of town. Decent and safe schools. It's abit rural compared to Beech Grove, but a nice area. There is a Meijers store that's pretty nice and open 24 hours. Heartland Crossing is the main housing addition and very nice.

Isn't Heartland Crossing one of the developments that C.P. Morgan started and never finished before going belly-up? I think I read an article that even had quotes from disgruntled people who bought homes there and are now upset that the promised pool, etc. will never go in, so their houses are worth less than they paid.
Camby is a good choice, however, in that it's a small town and a relatively quick 20-25 minute drive to Beech Grove.
