Eagle Creek area
Hi all, my wife and I are currently renting in Carmel and are trying to figure out where to buy. We love the Eagle Creek area with the older homes, mature trees and large lot sizes, but are concerned about the safety of the surrounding area. We don't have kids so the school systems are not a huge factor at this point. So is Eagle Creek a safe place to live? The area to the east seems a little sketchy. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I like the Eagle Creek area too, I would just advise that to go shopping or out to eat or whatever, you head West.

there are some great places to eat at close to Eagle Creek-Cic's, Don Pablos, TGI Fridays anyone?? As for shopping the closest thing would be Lafayette Square and it isnt much so you would probably have to head out to Plainfield or Avon

I am a little biased on this one because I live in the Eagle Creek / Traders Point area, but I think the area is great. What part of Eagle Creek are you talking about? IMHO, this part of Indy offers something that is very hard to find elsewhere in the greater Indy area.
Is it safe? Well, I am sure the crime rate is worse than say Carmel or Zionsville but I have never had any problems. I do prefer to stay towards the north side of Eagle Creek though. Feel free to DM me or call me if you want to pick my brain about the area.

If you live around the 38th Street area of Eagle Creek, you'll find shopping and going out not as safe or as many choices, as the Lafayette Square/38th St corridor has deteriorated in the past 15 years. If you live along the 71st or 86th Street areas, you can shop and hang out in the 86th Street corridor, which is a better, safer area. The 56th Street area is odd, in that it's right in between 38th and 86th.
A lot of people go to Brownsburg, Zionsville and Avon from the west side of Eagle Creek.
