I wouldn't dismiss Pike schools: demographics have changed up there but I think you can still get a good education. The track record is generally strong, so I can't help but think that racial prejudices are guiding the reason Pike has a "mixed" reputation. The school system is about 50% African American. Same can be said about Warren Township and its schools.

The southside, Perry Township, has had some administrative issues in recent years (poor relations between school board and superintendent), but the schools are still solid and seem to be handling the rapidly diversifying student body quite well.

Hi,

i've been living in Plainfield for 6 months, from England, getting ready for a permanent move-just finalising visa. Its a really nice place to live and the people are great. No road rage, everyone sticks to the speed limit (every other car is a cop!). I can leave my apartment and be checked though customs in the airport within 20 minutes. Avon is also nice but i'm sticking to Plainfield when i get the visa. Houses are nice although rentals are hard to come by. I've been looking over the last few weeks for a 4 bed 2 storey and there aren't many around. If you have the chance do the move as the quality of life is far superior to England, just bring a snow shovel!

Pike High School student here (2010). Don't send your children here, I along with many other students hate the school and it's lack of school spirit is evidence. I think I'm the most qualified with my opinion of this awful place.
