Default Dog with a torn ACL

My 3 year old rotweiller mix (85 lbs) tore both ACLs. The vet quoted $5600 for surgeries. Does anybody know of a good affordable veterinarian in Central Indiana? The dog is not in a need of an emergency surgery, but it will have to be done eventually. In these financially turbulent times I can not afford to spend that kind of money. Did anybody have an experience with this? How well do the dogs heal?
Thanks you.

I haven't had any experience but I definitely feel for you, I have a Rott mix too, and I love him. We go to Avon Animal Hospital. You might check with the Humane Society for contacts, or find out if there is a Rott Rescue organization.

My dog had the surgery, but I found a vet doing a new procedure using a tightrope. It was $1800 for one repair, and it was the best option at the best price.

The vet's name is Caring Hands Pet Hospital, and it is in Geist.

OP - as a regular on the dog forum, I'll suggest you post there/search there too. Regulars may not be in Indiana, but I seem to remember quite a few ACL experiences being written about.

Hope this helps.
