Possible relocation to Indianapolis
I'm in the airline industry and I may be transferring to Indianapolis Intl Airport within the next six months. I need some information (home cost and values, school districts, travel time to IND airport) and about the towns and small cities surrounding Indianapolis.
Thanks,
the family man

I have a friend who recently moved to Whitestown - her husband works at the airport as a contractor. There isn't much in Whitestown yet, but it will probably grow. It is a 20 minute drive to the airport, with easy access to 1-65.

I am from Indy and can answer your question. Towns near the airport are the west side of Indianapolis, Speedway, Brownsburg, Avon. Plainfield is the closest. Greenwood, on the south side is not too bad, maybe 20-30 minutes.

Isn't Indianapolis building a new airport?
So will there be 2 airports, or are they going to close the old one when the new one is completed?

hello family man since you are transfering to the airport you should probably look at houses in plainfield, indiana the closest town to the airport. home costs vary from neighborhood to neighborhood most houses are with in the range of $85-$300,000 dollars except willow pointe $400,000-$895,000. home values tend to go up about 5- 15% each year. so if you bought a house for $100,000 the following year it should be worth about $110,000?. the school districts in plainfield have received national recognition for their excellence in education and technology the school corporation received 4 star status again last year for the 5th time in a row. travel time to the airport from plainfield is less than 15 minutes no matter where in town. there is alot of amentities in plainfield that you will like there is a new outdoor mall in town there are 4 grocery stores in town and 1 wal-mart supercenter meijer will be building a meijer supercenter that is slated to open in 2009.the plainfield aquatic center is ranked among the best in the state it has 3 250ft? high water slides, jungle jims, a lazy river, diving boards, 1 large concession stand with anything you could imagine. the inside of the aquatic center is a rec. center for local youth on the lower level and a state of the are gym on the upper level that features a track, aerobics classes, and occupational therapy and lots of gym equipment. plainfield has a great park system. Hummel Park the regions 2nd largest park is over 150 acres with baseball diamonds, soccerfields, football fields, 3 playgroundsand over a dozen shelter houses 5 gazebos and 2 tracks that go around and through the entire park. the park also has a ampitheater that host many concerts in the summer as well as the 4th of july fireworks celebration. i think that just about covers it if you have any question just ask? bye
