How Is Pike Township Schools?
We are thinking of moving to a condo on Village Parkway and it would be in Pike Township. My daughter is going into the 6th grade next year and would be going to Lincoln Middle School.
Just wondering how the school system is overall. She is white but has many friends of many ethnicities so I don't believe that would be a problem.
Thoughts?

I have a few friends that went to Pike; the schools are fine. Pike is not Carmel; it doesn't pretend to be; but that does not mean the schools are bad. Pike the high school is loaded.

My daughter made it into Fishback (out by 86th & Lafayette Rd) by lottery and even though it was supposed to be one of the best schools we still saw some deficiencies (and I don't consider myself to be super picky).
We moved down to Texas in spring of 08 and the GAP is huge. She was reading, spelling and doing math at a much higher level than she ever did at Pike/Fishback.
If you can afford it, I would look at Carmel instead.

I've been a Pike student since first grade (currently in 11th) and I hate it. Do no send your kids to Pike ESPECIALLY Lincoln, that's the worst of the three middle schools. 13 year old kids were just arrested there and at Guion for gang activity and drug trafficking. Pike high school is crap and the test scores are obvious. Trust me, you and your daughter will enjoy an education outside of Marion County for the most part. If you must stay in the city then look at Franklin, Decatur, Perry, or Wayne.

Thanks for all the responses. We are looking at a house for rent in Carmel this weekend too. We also just found a house we really like...but again, it's in Pike township.
