Default Tornadoes in Noblesville?

Hi everyone, My family and I are relocating to the Noblesville, IN area and I was hoping someone could tell me about tornadoes in the area. Has noblesville ever had a tornado hit? Does this occur frequently? How much should I worry about this? Thanks.

In recent history I don't recall Noblesville being struck by a tornado but I'm sure it's probably happened before ( Pre-1950's) The central Indiana area usually will see about 1-5 tornadoes per year and they usually dont rate high on the Fujita scale ( probably around range of 0-2) Long as you have a basement and pay attention to the weather you shouldnt have much of a problem.

I don't believe that Noblesville has a significant problem with tornadoes.

It's the Midwest, so there's always a risk of tornadoes. I'm not aware of one having struck Noblesville at any time in recent history.

Me either. Get a house with a basement and a good weather radio.

sorry typo occurred. I meant a trailer park. Everyone knows though that it doesn't take a whole lot of wind to damage a mobile home.

While I don't recall specifically any tornadoes hitting Noblesville, tornadoes can and do hit the Indianapolis area and surrounding counties. However, high winds and severe thunderstorms are more prevalent than actual tornadoes and they can cause significant damage as well. As long as you have a basement and a functioning weather radio, you should be okay. I actually have a mild tornado phobia and I still only end up getting frightened enough to scuttle to the basement about once every few years.
