Default Suggestion on Housing in Indianapolis

Hi, I will move to indianapolis at the end of this month, but I have no idea about the city. I hope to find a safe and convenient place to live. Safe is my first priority since I have a 3 month old baby. I'm originally from China and also like to live in a place nice to asian people. I will work in downtown area (zip 46202). I got lots of apartment information but can not tell where to choose. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Indy is a big city. Try and live close to work or facilities that you need daily. You have not given enough info to really help. Lots and lots of apartments and housing on all sides and in all price ranges.

We do not have any real ethnic areas but a lot of corporate professionals from Asia live on the north side of Indy. Many in Carmel because of the schools. Again, not enough info to help.

I live downtown in 46202 and we even have housing that is safe here.

It would take a book or a whole website to provide all the info available. Are you relocating with a corporation or hospital or school? They often have available assistants for such questions.

Thanks for your information! I'm planning to rent a place for a few month and hope to buy a house this year. I'm not sure if I should rent a place near my potential house buying area. I have looked at the places at downtown area, and the price is over 1200 for 2 bedroom with short term lease. I'm looking at apartments around 10-20 mins driving from downtown with the price less than 1000 for 2 bedroom and with nice neighborhoods. I'm not sure if that will be possible.
