perry township has good schools and is the southside. I live there and my wife and I both drive downtown.14 minute drive for me and a 28 minute for her. ( different shift) We live around bluff rd and edgewood. New homes in that area run from 120- 220 $$

Am an international student from Ghana and I hope to attend the university of indianapolis this fall 2009 somewhere in August 17th 2009.Am looking for a place to rent for at least two months and if i could possibly find a female room mate it will be nice since am a female.I want a rent with a price range from 100-400 dollars monthly and one close to the university like five minutes walk with good amenities as well

As always I suggest you live in Hamilton County. A nice community and excellent schools. If you stay close to I69 the commute downtown will only be 20 or 30 minutes is not bad at all yet you will have the advantage of being in a nice area.
