I hope you'll be encouraged. I moved to Indiana with my two toddlers (ages 1 and 3), having come from southern California and Phoenix before that. We did just fine, and in fact we thoroughly enjoyed the wintery months. We made snowmen and let snowflakes drop on our tongues from the sky. It was wonderful. As far as safety goes, there is a lot of very good advice others have posted on this thread. I was careful to avoid driving long distances in severe weather, preferring to stick closer to home when possible. And performance fleece was our best friend.
