Default Looking for Young, Progressive, Church

Could anyone who knows the churches in the area provide me some suggestions? I'm not looking for mega-churches or super showy churches. I'd like to be involved with a church that stands on truth and also has progressive views. Would really like a place that had a good population of people in their 20's.

Thanks in Advance!

I go to a church at 46th and Illinois. Common Ground. A ton of young people, I'm one of the older people there. Mostly people college age to about 35 years old. It certainly isn't bible thumping. The music is contemporary, progressive. 46th and IL is about 10-15 minutes from downtown depending on where you are coming from. You should check it out.

Common Ground Christian Church

Beyond that it is very, very casual. I wear shorts in the summer, jeans in the winter. One of the pastors usually wears t-shirt and jeans and the other one might get dressed up and wear Docker like pants and maybe a polo type shirt. Both of the pastors who do the sermons are under 40 years old. I think Jeff is 38 and Bill is maybe 35 or so.

Everytime i visit my grandmother in Indy, I usually go to church with her. She attends St. Monica's off of Michigan Ave. It's really diverse, and alot of young families attend it. The facility is nice, and the church organization is very progressive and welcoming. They've done amazing work with the school as well.

St. Monica's is of course a catholic church and most catholic churches are not very contemporary in their style of worship.

hk111 - you never mentioned if you are looking for a Catholic church or what denomination

Certain denominations tend to be more "progressive" than others. Any of the traditional denominations with urban locations are likely to be liberal leaning--my suspicion is almost any downtown church you go to that is Methodist, Lutheran, Presbyterian, even Baptist will fit this category. Unitarian and Quaker/Friends Churches are almost always liberal, as is United Church of Christ. And Episcopal churches too--I know that Christ Church Cathedral right on the circle has a very traditional service but the message is usually not conservative at all.

But what do you mean when you say a church that "stands on truth"? Do some churches stand on falsehood?

Holy Angels is also a nice church. Its very close to downtown, has a diverse population (many black) and it contemporary in it's style of worship.
