Place to buy a home near Lawrence
Hi,
I'm moving to Indianapolis in December, and I'll be working in the Lawrence area just outside of 465 on 56th. I'll be looking for a house soon after that. I've been going through some other posts, and the only area recommended I could find close by is Fishers. It seems most of the areas named are either north or west. I saw in one post where they recommended I avoid the east inside of 465.
Can any of you recommend neighborhoods not too far from Lawrence?
Thanks, Lou

why not Lawrence itself? There are a lot of nice neighborhoods in that Twp.

True, DG, but as a parent of a child who attends Belzer Middle School, I've been less than impressed with the school district.

true that. i have friends who left LT schools. But if schools aren't an issue, then I'd suggest living in the north section of lawrence.

I am thinking you will be working at Fort Bennie? You should try Castleton and Fishers. I hear Lawrence isn't bad either. I am new to the area as well, but one thing I know for sure is that traffic heading to Fishers is frustrating. It is a very nice area though.

I've done some research, talked to a couple realtors, and am narrowing my search to Fishers, McCordsville, Greenfield and Eastern Marion county. All these areas appear to have good schools (the Marion county areas I'm looking at have township schools instead of Indianapolis schools). I want a bigger lot (1/2 acre or more). I have about 8 homes so far in the 100k-200k range selected off the MLS. They appear very nice for the price. I guess the home values have taken hits in this area as well.

All of those places are good bets. If you have no concern about schools, the areas to the east and north of Fort Ben State Park are very attractive--Fall Creek Drive is beautiful. I wrote much more about this on the other post that compares Zionsville to Lawrence Township.
