I think this must be down to building code. The Beazer homes here in North Carolina that are 3000 sq ft have two air conditioning units. Beazer here have a good reputation - alot depends on the salesman and builder in each community.

Beazer got a bad rap, deservedly, for their financing arm actions a few years back. For the past 2 years I think they have completely exited that. Now you get a contribution towards closign costs and you get to choose whoever you wish as the mortgage company.

Sorry, but that is not quite true. I have a 3400+ sf home that is two stories with a vaulted entry - one HVAC unit handles it no problem.

It's all in how well the system is designed and sized to the structure.
