Well, scary when it happens to anyone but especially someone you know.

My hairdresser was robbed at gunpoint in front of her house just outside of Irvington last night. She was with her 12 year old son!!! and had just gotten out of her car.

They got a purse and the small change her son had. Now how much do you think a woman with child in a simple neighborhood is going to carry? Can you imagine a robber asking a child to empty their pockets.

That two men threatened and robbed a woman for so little is very scary.

Then to top it off, she was on hold for almost 10 minutes on 911. Even scarier. The 911 response was that a big accident had happened and they were overwhelmed. Perhaps an unintended consequence of cell phone usage. It is a good thing no one was physically hurt.

She is going to the local monthly community police meeting.

yes that is terrible. The police response wasn't surprising though. We called for assistance about a theft from a vehicle a few years ago in Indy and were told the same thing, i.e., the police were overwhelmed and we might have to wait a few hours before someone would come.

Sweetana, I'm sorry about your friend. That's a terrible thing for anyone to go through especially a young child. I'm glad she and her son are okay though. Money/material things you can replace but one's life is not replacable so I"m glad they were not hurt.
