I have been living on the North Side of Indianapolis for 20 some years. At the end of the summer, I will be moving to the Greenwood/Beech Grove area. I was just curious if anyone has any unique or just different Greenwood dining experiences and/or places they would like to share with me? Thanks in advance

I like Greenwood, but it is not much different from any other suburb. It has standard big box retail, chains, what not, etc.

There is a nice little coffee shop on County Line Road across from Greenwood Park Mall if you are into that sort of thing. It is cleverly named "The Coffee Shop." There is a Thai place in the next strip mall over that is pretty good, though I prefer Siam Square in Fountain Square. The place on County Line Road; I don't remember the name, they have an awesome tropical dish that they serve in a hollowed out pineapple. If you are into generic but quick tacos, Roscoe's Tacos is ok.

Not Greenwood, but I can recommend Santorini Greek Kitchen on Prospect.

Pipers is a standby, recently relocated on Hwy 37 and Southport. Vito Provelone's has been around for ever and remains popular, even as the downtown location was short-lived (and inferior IMO).

Shallo's is a great place for its choice of draft beers and the food is decent. Oaken Barrel is known for good local brews and the food is a little more ambitious than one would expect (if nothing spectacular). India Diner is nice, and I second the previous poster's mention of Thai Spice (better than Siam Square in my opinion). Fujiyama by Beech Grove has been there forever. Apparently there's a new Burmese place at Stop 11 and Madison, though I haven't been. Tons of Mexican restaurants, though not necessarily one I'd recommend as a stand-out. Flapjacks is a decent blue-collar breakfast place; Sophia's in Center Grove has a good reputation though I've never been.

I like La Trattoria in downtown Greenwood. I've heard mixed things about Fabulous Las Vegas (or whatever its called). There's an excellent Chinese place at S.R. 135 and Smith Valley, though alas I forget the name. Strange Brew is a great little coffee shop that serves bubble tea. And the Acropolis Greek restaurant has been around for ages; haven't been in awhile.

That's all I can think of at the moment.
