There is also an option for online anonymity to mask IP's.

It slows you down, but once downloaded, do a Who is, runs you through numerous servers, sometimes IP is Illinois, sometime Stuttgart and many other places.

It is TOR.

A good point, but it has nothing to do with the concerns the OP expressed.

correct, but the issues of privacy are related. seems if some are anal enough to be concerned about being "watched" then it is another way to get off the grid.

Well, that's another reason not to give out any information online, especially public viewable sites, even your name. I looked on Intellius, which I have done in the past, and another person with my name is listed as 110 years old, cool.
