Has anyone got a hack so that I don't have to see the idiots that CNN allows to respond to their news stories? Maybe a URL that I can block?

You could probably do it with AdBlock Plus in Firefox. Once AdBlock Plus is installed, see if the little "Block" tab appears in the Soundoff area. If it does, you can block that content.

You can do this with custom CSS if you're using firefox, not sure if you can with other browser.

Follow the directions here: Per-site custom CSS in Firefox | corey gilmore's blog

In the first example they have this as rule:

Quote:
#bd {
background:none;
}

replace it with this:

Quote:
#disqus_thread {
display:none;
}
A quick explanation, you can think of HTML as bunch of containers. We can size them, make them them different colors, they can overlap and many other things by formatting them with CSS. In this case the section on the CNN site where people are posting is a container with the id disqus_thread. By applying this rule it should make it not display. Haven't tested it but should work fine.
