With Firefox the following 3 are a must:
- AdBlock Plus
- NoScript
- FlashBlock

I believe you have the top 2 already so get FlashBlock as well. BrowserDefender for both IE and FF users is also a 'wise to have' add-on.

I found a page that produces a FLOATING POPUP AND I CAN BLOCK IT!!

http://popuptest.com/popuptest14.html

The URL to the popup is: http://www.popuptest.com/images/popup.gif

If i add that link to my CONTENT FILTER and then reload the page,THE FLOATING POPUP IS GONE!! (I had to enable scripts)

Now to find one that produces a floater W/O SCRIPTS!

If you ever run across one you can't block under any circumstances it's probably done with CSS, easy to do and really impossible to block.... however you need JavaScript enabled so the user can close it hence the reason it is not used by anyone.

Yes, that's the one. Use the scroll bar. The ad will follow you all the way down.

That one just seems like bad design. But it is a script, so you can disable it with noscripts (but it's from the same domain as the website so other possibly desired scripts will be disabled as well). Another workaround- I was able to move it away from the text by zooming out (and squinting ).

For other ads that come from ad servers, you can block them with a modified hosts file. You can find some that are already made and just paste their contents into your own hosts file. http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm

That works but then I need a magnifying glass. (My eyesight is pretty bad.)

What is a "modified hosts file"?
