Tech Info: CERT/CC Denial of Service
What is a Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) Attack and What Can I Do About It? (http://www.cert.org/homeusers/ddos.html - broken link)
Visa and Mastercard have stopped allowing donation sites to use their Credit Cards...Free Speech anyone????
The free speech argument doesn't fly here because it's a private company, if you own a company and refuse services to someone because you disagree with what they are doing you are exercising your own rights. It's a two way street, you can't trample all over the rights of Mastercard .

You don't think the US Government had a major influence in those private companies decisions to cancel taking donations for Wikileaks? Remove funding = censorship imo.
At this point Wikileaks has broken no laws, and the US cyber coalition is trying to censor them. So far US appears to be winning, but technically speaking it is very hard to stop the Internet and most likely Wikileaks will prevail.

Try refusing services to somebody because of their race, religion, creed, nation of origin, etc. and see how long you can exercise your own "rights"...
