Question on Tags for Form (Flash, how to, Word, registered)

Hello, I am using a joomla component to build a form for registered users to input data into a MySQL database.

My question is why is Tags important? Is this for visitors to come on the website and search for the data created by the user?

I want any visitor/user to search for this data. A results page will return the title and username of the person who created this data via the form. Similiar to here: Make Your Own Flash Card Decks | Free Flash Card Deck Creation Tool | Dictionary.com Why is the form asking for Tags? Im trying to create a similar form. Just wanted to know how to store the Tags and its purpose. Thats whats confusing me.

The "tags" would be keywords and could be used for a variety of things such as you correctly guessed searching.

Another use might be those "word clouds" you see on lot of sites.

Thank you for responding. I understand now. Its important for the user's to enter these tags so their data is searchable.
