The United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York and the Federal Bureau of Investigation on Friday announced the indictment of 11 individuals involved with online poker websites on charges of bank fraud, money laundering, and illegal gambling.

The defendants include the founders of the three largest Internet poker companies that do business in the US: Absolute Poker, Full Tilt Poker, and PokerStars. The government seized five Internet domain names associated with these companies.

They really should just legalize it so they can tax the winnings. This is ridiculous.

Just plain silly. All the other serious problems we have going on and they are wasting our tax dollars investigating online poker. Legalize it, tax it and find something better to worry about.

No big surprise really, a huge tax income possibilty staring the government in the face but they'd rather waste time and money trying to make it look like they are accomplishing something important for the country.

Actually most states have some form of legal gambling whether it's state sponsored lottery, horse racing or Casinos. The issue becomes these sites can operate from overseas and taxing them becomes the issue, it's all about the money and they don't want to lose those taxes.
