Is it possible?

I recently reactivated and found under messages, that they have messages from my college days(2006-2009) on there. They offer no delete option. The "x" says "archive" when I mouse over it.

If I knew back then that facebook would be this much of a pain, I'd have never started.

You can always create a new account and request the same friends over. This time around you can set it to whatever settings you want.

I find it strange and creepy as well. I saw conversations with my friends from 2007!

A new account would serve no purpose for me if they save IMs and waste space on their system for random stuff from years back. It is creepy that they actually need to record when I asked my friends what languages they knew.

I just use it for apps now.

I wish facebook had a half life like most internet forums.

Once you post it or send it on facebook it will be around forever on a server or someones computer somewhere. Even if you could "delete" it, all it would do is kill the link so you couldn't see it anymore. It would still be saved on a server or computer somewhere. Don't think for a minute that facebook isn't saving everything so in the future they can sell information to tabloids or talk shows as the next generation of politicians and public figures are coming up.
