I forwarded an email from yahoo account at 8:28AM EST to one of my company email addresses (server is hosted in Washington state) and I checked the company email every few minutes, it FINALLY showed up in the inbox at 8:40AM EST. HOW COME? Any idea?

Slow outbound mail queue on Yahoo's end? Wouldn't surprise me. I experienced all kinds of random slowness during the couple of years I used them as my primary email host.

Stringent checking on your company's email server? I have an account at a place that does a bunch of checks on inbound email before it's delivered. Many is the time I've waited 15 minutes or more for a password confirmation or a receipt for an online order to arrive in that account.

What's WRONG?

Could be everything is right. Not much in the internet takes a direct route from a point of origin to its destination. An email may hop from one server to another in search of entry to its destination. Should that destination be busy... your company server temporarily disabled, being serviced, DOS attack, or some situation, then that email will continue its entry search... up to 25 hops before being returned to its point of origin in failure.

Your email arriving at 5:40AM PST might have been delayed by an opportune maintenance window.

There is a reason email is not called "instant mail"

I know email routing and hops, but the experience has been about 99% of the time, email delivery is about 1 minute or even less, hence, the concern here.

All right, my hosting company just told they set up a way to filter out spamming and that process requires 15 minutes delay.

Ok, here I have another concern. My web stats indicated 30 page view of the download page yesterday, however, zero actually downloading or installation have happened (when it happens I receive a simple email notification without knowing who and where the user is for protection of his/her privacy), but say, 1/3 visitors are Mac users (who can't use the software), then we still have the other 20, and do you think not a single of them would actually download and install the software? (For relevance, I need to post the download page URL, and yet, to avoid potential accusation of spamming, I won't), what's your thought?

Thanks in advance.

Reputation is earned from other members, not based on how many times your posts have been read. If you post quality stuff other members will rep you, if you post garbage you'll have a low rep no matter how many posts or how many times said posts have been read.

Sometimes server overloads can cause e-mails to take longer than they usually do.

I remember I signed up for a forum, not this one, and it took like an hour for my registration verification key to be e-mailed to me.

I don't usually respond to garbage but I make an exception!
