Call it "Occupy Facebook." Or, perhaps, "UnOccupy Facebook."

Hoping to capitalize on frustrations with the social networking giant, not to mention some of the anti-corporate sentiment bubbling up on Wall Street and beyond, entrepreneurs have launched an upstart site called Unthink.

Interesting. I've been clicking around the site.
I'm still trying to load the video for Unthink For Brands.
It looks like another good idea, only time will tell if it flies. Meanwhile, I might as well stake out my turf there

still loading. Jeeze, the video is less than 2 minutes - what's taking so long?

The problem with all sites like this is that they are centralized and not federated.
Social networking should be similar to sending email in structure, so you don't have to conform to whatever new oddities the controlling company has in mind for you. (i.e. be able to grab your profile/data and leave if you think your provider sucks.)

Diaspora is an attempt to this, nobody knows how popular the system will become of course. It is still in its very infancy.
Basically you can host your own server and it then seamlessly interconnects you to the rest of the diaspora network.
