clogged drains and listing web sights (how to, website, cleaning, http)

How do you promote a web sight ? I have just made a web sight it's Drain Cleaning it is a question and answer sight about what to do if you get a clogged drain. And would like to make another one on how to save money when you call a repair man. I have listed on some free list sights but if I go to search for it it never comes up. Is there a place to list that dose not cost a lot of money as I am giving the info. away free.

Do a google search on how to get search engine hits. You want to submit your web page to yahoo, and MSN, and try and get as many backlinks on websites as you can. For example, the link you provided on this forum will actually help boost your search engine ratings on google. The higher the rating of the website that has your backlink, the better the boost is to your site rating. You can post it into tons of different forums, then when the spiders are out searching you will get a small boost from that. You really just need to find sites that offer a similar type of help, but something completely different. Then you can contact them, and ask them to do a dual link... you link to them, and they to you. That will boost you as well...

BTW - it's "site" not "sight."

And follow Jeff's suggestions. All you have to do is search "submit website" and you'll get a slew of sites that will list your's for free. To get better results, arrange to have other sites carry your site on their page (a link) - the better coverage you have the better you will get positioned - there's more, a lot more, but this is a great first start.
