Facebook just removed everyone's email address from their profile and replaced it with an @facebook.com email address without asking you. Here's how to easily fix the problem: Facebook's Lame Attempt To Force Its Email Service On You - Forbes

The email on your facebook account is designated "email" and will open third party application like Outlook when you click link to email someone?

If it is that's a pretty big invasion of privacy since Facebook has inserted themselves into a communication that was completely free of their services.

Not sure what it was - had no desire to try. Already disabled theirs.

The new Facebook Messages incorporates email, SMS, and Facebook Chat and Messages into one convenient bucket. It all boils down to trust. Historically, Facebook hasn't been all that open about letting you get information out of the basket. The fact is - if you decide to leave Facebook - the service has never been good at letting you take your ball and play elsewhere.
Deleting your personal stuff from Facebook is a nightmare, so count with that your private conversations will stay with them forever.

Caught this when the story first broke a few days ago and immediately changed mine back to my Gmail address.

Stupid move on FB's part to do this without our permission or even our knowledge.

Useless email account. Its maybe ok to share for fun conversation with friends, but no real professional would want to change his email to something silly like @facebook.com

No real professional should be using Facebook for professional contacts, IMO. That's what LinkedIn is for.

Just gonna use mine for another spam trap.
Registering on spam sites, and let the FB mailbox fill up.

I don't see it going to my Hosted Exchange Outlook account.

FB has trapped so many people and companies, it can be nearly impossible to interact with folks one needs to without joining. Even as reluctlantly as I have joined.
My office is using it as a semi-official communications venue, which really sucks, but the masses have spoken.

Dumped all of them years ago.
