I've received a couple of emails from Facebook recently with the subject: "Do you know [name1], [name2], and 8 others?". I don't pay too much attention to these in the past and just simply 'file' them away but I just noticed that 1) these are all complete strangers that have nothing in their profile to remotely link them to me and 2) 90% of them are hot girls. And before you ask, no, they don't seem to be FB profiles set up for porn sites.
Is this a new FB tactic or has it always been like this and I just have not noticed?
The ones I get, I recognize the names as people who are friends of people who are on my friends list. If I don't recognize the names, I discover that most of them live in the same area as my friends. I presume that is how FB finds them. FB is the most invasive and immoral site on the web. I have more respect for Nigerian spammers.
Facebook does send these emails to people who have weak networks. They want to help you build up.
