I have a chance to save some money. AT&T is running a special lock in price for a year for their internet service. It is I believe broadband. I can save half my cable bill which seems like a nice idea. I have the medium level of service and do run video but not a lot of intensive uses. The problem is it requires a one year contract. Cable doesn't even if they don't always do the best job.

I'd love to save money but just the same this is a core thing in the household, and I'd hate to find out I hated it and be stuck with something which didn't serve my needs.

Any experience with Uverse?

I don't have experience with Uverse. What is the upload/download speed that you have with cable? What is the upload/download speeds that Uverse provides? One important piece is to see if Uverse allows you to cancel within a period of time if unhappy. Most places (even cell phones) will let you cancel a contract within 15-30 days if you aren't happy with the service. That way if the speeds are comparable, you can take it for a test drive. Then if you have issues, you can cancel without penalty. I would look into that option if I were you.

But as a rule of thumb, cable internet will be faster than DSL.

Why not go into the Oklahoma forums on C-D and ask this there?

I'd think you'd find out all the little things like their real D/L & U/L speeds, reliability, support, service policies etc.....
