Someone took my picture off of my facebook and he ended up trolling some forums. Well, one thing he did was **** some forum members on one forum off so bad to the point that they have found his IP address and location and think the guy in the picture is him.
Problem is, they have been trying to find the real name of the person in the picture (which would actually be my real name) and these guys seem pissed about it. Usually I wouldn't care but I think this scandal might end up ruining my Law School dreams.
I have a 3.9 GPA and a high LSAT score so I am worried.
I was made aware of the occurrence about 4 weeks ago and thought it died down until I came across the link not too long ago.
Yeah, the cat's out of the bag, but lesson learned - never use your real photo, and if possible, don't use your real name. Stay as anonymous as possible. It's difficult, and if you're online at all, not completely possible, but don't make it easier for people to hurt you in whatever way they can.

What do I do?
Not sure what I would do, but I'll share a few ideas . . .
Start searching for an Internet -savvy personal detective that can find out the troll's IP, and also, their personal name & contact information / address . . . to sue said troll in court for DEFAMATION of CHARACTER, etc. To that end I also suggest seeing a lawyer who specializes in helping the victims of such behaviors. And do a background check on them, as well. (If you can't afford to sue them, at least file police report against them complete with copies of proof of their guilt.)

My fiance is a lawyer....there's cyberstalking & harassment. You just need to get the proof...AND if it's online........there can be a LOT to be found. He says it's super easy to prove ...like with pictures, fake profiles & text conversations they had with other ppl. Emails too.
It shouldn't hurt you tho....just the person that is using fake pictures & names to copy or harass somebody else. Some ppl make a game out of it......because they are obsessed.....or have no life of their own.
I dunno how they think they found your name from a photo tho ...AND the IP would have been the person that was posting. edit: on the fake account with your picture. It makes no sense.
