We are paying $50 for 100Mbps municipal fiber. Just went up $10/month.
That said....5 Mbps sucks. You might as well have cable. 25 Mbps is marginal. 100 Mbps works fine. Internet TV works, plus four or five connections work at the same time. At 100 Mbps you start noticing that the sites on the other end have speed issues.
I thought long and hard about signing up for the 1Gbps fiber at $150/month and decided to pass. 100Mbps seems to be the sweet spot right now. Maybe when NetFlix starts 4000K service we will upgrade to 1Gbps service.
Doesn't Google fiber offer anything between 5Mbps and 1Gbps??
The 5Mbps service is Free after either; a $300 "install charge", or $25/mo x 12 mos = $300. Also a WiFi router (aka Network Box) is included
