2mbps is more than sufficient for youtube or most sites serving video. You can get DVD quality with 2mbps.

Can't wait for Google fiber to be deployed in more cities. Google is offering 1GB per second service with HUGE "caps" for a very reasonable price. Every city they enter will drive costs down.

Heard from a time warner employee tho not to expect any changes for at least a year after approval. Still they also face the terms of local government granting approval at least here.

1 mbps. Good for the casual user who just gets on once in a while. Someone who just wants to get on, do their online banking.... browse the news and weather.... check their Facebook.... answer e-mails... stuff like that.

Good for videos on news sites and YouTube if you don't mind a little buffering.

Not good if you want to do any regular streaming like Netflix or HuluPlus.

3 mbps is good for one person to use internet in a residence and wants to stream vids on Netflix-type sites. I'd just start with that. See how that works for your vids. You can always upgrade later.

It will be 20.98 with the TWC modem lease. 14.99 if you have your own modem. And TWC.com lists all modems that are compatible for their internet. You're better off getting your own quality modem/router (modem gives you internet, router gives you wireless) combination. It will pay for itself. Better than leasing an internet provider's modem and paying for their wifi every month.

Nope.
There are 8 megabits in a megabyte.

TWC 14.99 internet is 1 megabit. That's not even one megabyte.

A gigabyte is 1,000 megabytes.
