Data is cheap, stolen credit card numbers can go for a buck or two depending on their country of origin.

That's just crazy, less than a penny an email address. I have never really looked into what those kind of places charge for an email address. I have had to deal with an INCREDIBLE amount of spam on my personal email accounts lately and I just hate looking in my email inbox. My spam filters are pretty much worthless as well and only catch some. Time for a new email address, that should last maybe a few weeks. LOL

Google's mail system is very effective at filtering out spam without much collateral damage. If you have your own domain, you can use Google for your email for $5/mo/user (they used to offer this for free, but they don't any more), or you can get a gmail.com address for free.

Thanks for the info swagger. I do have my own domain (same as my user name) and have email through that and it doesn't do the best job at filtering spam. I have a gmail account that catches a lot but the last 2-3 months a lot of spam is getting through their filters. I guess the spammers are getting better at getting their email through using whatever scripts they use. LOL

Are you on shared hosting, or do you have the entire server / VPS?

If you have control of the server, there are a number of things that can be done to stop spam from ever getting through the server, otherwise you just have to use filtering (a rather poor way of handling it IMO).

Hi SW, as of right now I am on shared hosting. I am currently looking into VPS hosting and maybe switching hosts. Their filtering is pretty bad which is why I mainly use the gmail account I use for the domain. The gmail does pretty good filtering but as of late a lot of spam is getting through to my inbox. It's kind of frustrating...
