Lately I've been getting the error message on YouTube and videos aren't playing.
I've searched every possible fix I could find online, including on Apple Support and YouTube but nothing is working.

I'm not using the YouTube HTML 5 player for YouTube.
I've cleared the browser cache, deleted all related information and performed a clean install of Adobe Flash Player.
It's still not working on Safari or Firefox. (Safari is my main browser.)

I have:
Mac OS X Mavericks 10.9.4
Safari 7.0.5

Any suggestions that work?

Editing to Add: Never mind. The following fix worked for me after my clean install:

In Safari, select

Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data

Hope this info will help someone else. (Or a mod can feel free to delete this thread entirely since the problem has been resolved.)

I spoke too soon. That fix worked for a few videos but I'm getting the error message AGAIN! I've tried every fix I could find. Even the ones that worked temporarily are not working anymore.

Any ideas anyone?

Random videos on different channels. One video will play and another video on the same channel won't. After I applied the solution that I listed in my first post, I was able to play this video of friends living in Korea. Now that same video is back to NOT working.

I've even tried using the Google DNS servers (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4.) Didn't work. (Which is fine because I hate Google anyway.)

I don't know if the problem could be related to the Extensions I have but, here are the ones I'm using on Safari:
  • WOT
  • Incognito
  • AVG Do Not Track
  • TrafficLight
  • Cookie Stumbler
  • Google Disconnect (I tried disabling this and it doesn't help. It stops Google from tracking the webpages you visit. I hate Google.)
  • UTM Stripper
  • AdBlock

Too many? Not enough? Wrong combination? I just want to browse use the internet with security and privacy from thieving, snooping companies that want to steal and use my personal data for their financial gain. So, any suggestions about which Safari extensions I should have for privacy, anti-tracking, anti-advertisements (can't find anything for pop-unders yet), and security, I'd appreciate the suggestions on this, too.

I'm having this same issue using my Samsung Galaxy smartphne running Firefox. I never had the problem using YouTube until I updated their app about 10 days ago....BUT Mozilla's website also did a recent update and they have had numerous complaints since. They suggest it is related to their GRAPHICS EQUALIZER. I just know I want it fixed.

Was going to start a thread but I think I'll just add here.

Earlier today I was watching some videos. All was fine. In fact, I've not had any problems running YT videos ever.

About an hour later, I can't get any videos to play. I was in the middle of watching videos when it happened. I get that, "an error has occurred, please try again later".

Nothing changed.

I got out my second laptop...nope, same issue.

I tried Chrome, Safari, IE, and I'm running two versions of FF (one one new laptop, one on old laptop). I've got Win Vista on one, Win 7 on the other.

Java and Flash are up to date.

My history and cache clears every single time I close my FF browser.
Unchecking hardware accelerator did not fix the issue.
My ISP, (surprisingly for once, it is NOT TWC's fault.)
My DNS are the "free" ones open to the public.
I cleared my dns cache through cmdprompt.
I ran anti virus programs.

I can watch other videos on Vimeo or DailyMotion. The only videos I cannot see are YT videos, either on the site or embedded on another site.

I went to, "is this site up" or whatever it's called. Some people have been having issues with YT for awhile. Today was the first day I'm having issues.

It's not my computer...either one. It's not my ISP. It's not the browser. It's not the flash or java.

So is anyone else seeing issues with YT today?

And now it's working again. Strange.

By the way, when I couldn't view the videos on YT, I would copy the URL and put it in the box here:

Unblock YouTube | Free & Compatible YouTube Unblocker

And would be able to watch. If you can't see them on YT, try there, see if it works.

Thanks for that link! I'm going to try it, next time a video won't work for me. This happens occasionally, but I didn't notice if it's on YouTube or not.
