I'm getting the Untrusted Connection warning, all browsers, all search engines, but ONLY search engines. All else is connecting normally.
Using Firefox and Chrome and IE, I get the warning when I try to connect to Google, Yahoo or Bing. But I can get Dogpile, my only access to any search engine. No problem accessing Gmail, Yahoo Mail, any other links or websites -- only those search engines are affected. If I go to Gmail, and hit the Apps icon, and hit the Google Search app, I get the warning.
My computer clock is correctly set, which is the only suggestion I've been able to find online..
I've rebooted, and re-powered my modem, and cleared cache. No effect.
What could possibly account for this, and what is the repair?
No, nothing. Every night, I close browsers and turn off screen. When I opened Firebox this morning, I got the warning. I checked my AVG log, the 3-am scan was performed, no objects were found nor alerts issued.
I just checked my Downloads file, nothing since July 12.
Ran Malwarebytes, detected about 200 PUPs, all of them dated today's date. (The only browsing history today was to open Fir4efox, which defaulted to Warning.) Quarantined alll PUPs. . Opened browser, still the same untrusted connection warning on all browsers, all search engines. Checked for add-ons, nothing enabled except AdBlock. Ran ToolbarCLeaner, nothing unusual on list. Ran Malwarebytes again, detected 84 new PUPs, since an hour ago. Disabled AdBlock, so all add-ons are disabled. No change.
So, you just close browsers and turn off the monitor for the night? Maybe you need to Clean the history, cookies, completely close all tabs, turn off the computer, disconnect the modem. Wait few minutes. Connect everything back. Turn on the computer. See what happens.
You could download ccleaner, and run it.
When you run any cleaner or detector you need to do it at least twice, or as many times until it comes out clean. First run does not always clean everything.
Did you check all software installed? Maybe you need to run Hijackthis.
