The first post reeks of ten year old chain email...

ETA:

Actually, it's crossposted from a thread started two days ago:
http://www.city-data.com/forum/tv/21...at-haters.html

and is originally from a forum post in 2008:
http://consumerist.com/2008/06/13/25...ians-hate-you/

NAILED IT!

Actually it was copied and pasted from the Consumerist website (Swagger tracked it down), and from 2008 (notice the mention of non existent Circuit City), he also cross posted it to the internet forum.

Damn newbies.

If I have to call them, which is maybe every couple of years, they usually come out that same day, and they have always been unfailingly polite.

Sounds like Op wouldn't be good at any service to public. Either do thy
e job or go else where is my suggestion.

I see your point, OP, but it does cut both ways.

However, I do agree with your point about computers. People should clean them (or pay to have them cleaned) before complaining about the internet connection speed.

Sure, but then when they have done so, and checked everything and found them all fine, why does the cable company then refuse to admit something is wrong on their end? I had it happen. I had to prove it wasn't my computer oner and over again, and even have a tech come out. He admitted it was their problem, but there was nothing he could do. I got it fixed by posting with the comcast tech that used to post at dslreports. He fixed the problem in 5 minutes. He was in another state, and I never met him. He fixed it then had me restart my modem and router. Now I finally got the speeds I was paying for!

They think all of their customers are stupid, as does whoever wrote the original rant in the OP.

I don't work for any cable company. I was actually doing research for my business (safety education and training), and did some ride alongs with a cable tv tech, a sat tech, and a phone tech. I saw many if not all of these listed. I have all new respect for them now. Same as I do, for the following jobs where I also did research....

Walmart cashier
convenience store clerk
beer/soda delivery driver
package delivery

These people don't expect anything (water, tips etc...), but a little respect and appreciation.

Many of your replies were exactly as I expected and what I saw. And you should be ashamed, your ignorance amazed me....
