Google Maps has this great feature where when you zoom into a city, eventually the image flips to a 45 degree view taken by a low flying plane I assume. They are very detailed.

What I find so frustrating is that it seems I cannot find when the date of the images was taken. To me the date means a lot for knowing conditions on the ground at that time.

Does anyone know how to find the date of the 45 degree imagery?

This imagery is not in Google Earth, btw, only on the old Google Maps. Is not even in the new version of Google Maps.

Seems really screwed up for a company that I thought really had their act together.

I searched all thru Google help forums and found only one response that said Google recommends you contact the image provider, but they don't give you anyway to find out who the image provider was. Bizarre, cause they give dates on all their other imagery.

As this article states, you need Google Earth to find out the date the imagery was taken....
