I am trying to ween my parents off of satellite internet and onto something more reliable and faster. Currently they are using Hughe's Net Gen 4 which brags of speeds of up to 10 MBS, but is heavily relient upon the weather, and has never even come close. I clocked the speed the other day at .11 MBS.
Well, they live a couple of miles outside of the city in a subdivision that doesn't have a lot of internet options, but they do get the AT&T U-Verse as an option. Unfortunately it's their lowest speed of, "up to 3MBS".
My MAIN question on this is, what are the average speeds you will attain if you have a max of 3MBS? Will the internet be affected by the weather? Is it pretty reliable? Any other issues?
If they could go from an average of .11MBS to even just 2MBS that would be huge. 3MBS would be a Godsend. Please share your experiences with AT&T U-Verse internet.
I know several users who love it.
I think you will find that they will deliver the advertised speed. And probably upgrade that at some future point.
They have to say "Up To..." just to disclaim, so if you buy a 3 and SpeedTest says a "2.8" now and then, you don't have a complaint.
The choices are U-Verse or HughesNet? No question. U-Verse, hands down.
So it sounds like U-Verse is pretty successful then?
