You're required to use your real name on FB.

I know you are talking about internet sites but I see such nastiness and hurtful comments just about everywhere they have them after an article. .My father got into some trouble in our town and the local paper put the whole gory story out there and the comments from people were horrible. ..it was hard for me not to read them. .I should have just ignored it but it was hard..these people didn't even know him yet they commented like they knew all the facts. ..he was ill when all this was going on..it is a long story but he had dementia at the end of his life..when he died they put it in the paper because he was a well known man around there and I will never forget someone commented on his obituary that he should have died in jail. ..so disgusting. .NOW that newspaper makes you put an email and real name...the horrible comments have just about stopped...behind the computer people are all brave...I am glad they did that...

It is indeed true. You completely failed at reading the terms of service. You must use your real name.

Some used their middle name and the first letter of their last name. Others used a sports name or nickname

Right. None of which are allowed. It's not rocket science.

I totally get that people don't want to use Facebook. There's nothing wrong with that. Just don't use the service if you aren't going to follow the terms. No need to breach a contract.

Looks like trolls are still winning. More sites are dropping comment sections.
In my opinion there wasn't much high quality debate anyways.
It's true, those news outlet sites had really terrible trolls. Huffington is still decent, but they have someone watching and deleting obnoxious troll posts.
