I'm doubtful there will be a simple solution for this, but thought I would ask anyway.

For months now, or even longer, Firefox just stops loading pages. I typically have 5-6 tabs open at once. Each time this happens, my internet connection is perfectly fine and Google Chrome works just fine. It happens at least once a day. Today it has happened twice.

The only solution that I can find is to restart the computer.

I am using a 2-year old Lenovo with Windows 7 and have no other problems with this computer.

any ideas appreciated!

I find that happens to me alot when alot of LARGE IMAGES (Pictures, etc) are all trying to DL at once.. I dunno if the computer goes into protect mode or what but when it happens I cant do anything online. (I only have MyIE2 (IE)) so i cant see if it happens like yours does (Still works with another browser (would be interesting if it did)) I have to reboot......

Lets see what your system load is like before restarting, do a Control+Alt+Del and click on the resource monitor button...

Is the CPU pegged or memory exhausted?

Dumb question but are you using the latest version of FF?

Yes, Firefox frequently stops loading pages in the middle of the process. And when that happens, all I have to do is refresh the page to fix it and get the rest of it. I've done it so many times, it's just become a routine I don't think much about.

Not sure if that's the same problem you're having, but no need to restart unless your computer is locked up and completely unresponsive.

Firefox doesn't do that to me. Why is to you?

Yes, latest version... next time it happens I will do what you've said here (I'll keep this page open in my tabs so I can come back to the thread)

That isn't really it- what happens is everything will be working fine- usually for at least for 6-8 hours (or more)of the computer being on/used - then I will go to a tab and try to open a page and it will just not load at all. Then I will check my other tabs, thinking maybe just that particular page is having a problem, and when 2 or 3 of the pages won't load, I know FF has frozen up on me (even though internet and Chrome work fine), and I have to restart the whole dang computer.

Its annoying!

It certainly is.

I went back to Firefox version 13 a while back because the new versions are awful. Firefox was great 3 or 4 years ago and it's been a steady downhill ride since. I would have tried Chrome by now, but I don't like or trust Google.
