The hackers said they would release the info IF the site didn't shut down.
The website says it hired the best IT guys to fix this and protect their patrons.
Seems like they could protect them by shutting the website down.

Based on the answer, yeah, while I take issue with hacking and people's privacy being violated, I'll admit that I am a bit of a hypocrite in that my usual outrage is turning a blind eye in this case.
